✦ About the founder

Hi, I'm Kristian.
Nice to meet you.

I'm the person behind GrowHaus. I built this site because I made every beginner mistake in the book — and I didn't want you to have to.

How I got into greenhouse growing

I grew up with a patchy vegetable garden and a habit of killing houseplants. Not a great starting point. But somewhere in my mid-20s, I got obsessed with the idea of growing tomatoes year-round — the kind you actually want to eat, the ones from farmers markets that taste like actual tomatoes instead of red-flavored water.

Kristian built GrowHaus after experiencing how difficult it was to find beginner-friendly greenhouse information that clearly explained setup, climate control, maintenance, and common mistakes.

What I learned in that first year wasn't in any book. It was: your greenhouse will do things the instructions don't cover. Temperature gradients, microclimates, when to open the vents, when to close them, why one tomato plant thrives three feet from another that just sulks. These things only make sense once you've watched them happen.

I don't have a horticulture degree. I have a notebook full of things that killed plants, and a few pages that didn't.

Why I built GrowHaus

When I was starting out, I kept hitting the same wall: every resource assumed I already knew things I didn't. "Position your greenhouse to maximize sunlight." Okay, but what if my garden runs north-south? "Watch for pests." Which pests? What do they look like? Where do they hide?

The internet had greenhouse content. It just wasn't written for someone who genuinely didn't know where to start. So I started taking notes — the real stuff, the embarrassing failures, the specific things that worked.

GrowHaus is those notes, cleaned up and organized. GrowHaus combines firsthand greenhouse growing experience, lessons learned, practical research, manufacturer information, and clearly identified third-party guidance. No recycled content, no AI-generated fluff.

What GrowHaus is trying to do

Simple: help you set up and run a greenhouse without making the mistakes I made. That's it. Not a marketplace, not a coaching service. A place to learn and grow alongside other growers — with good, honest information written for people who don't know the difference between a vent and a ridge yet.

Yes. All guides, plant recommendations, and heating advice on GrowHaus are completely free. The weekly newsletter is also free. Some product links are affiliate links — when you buy something through them, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's how the site stays running.
Every guide on GrowHaus is written based on firsthand greenhouse growing experience, practical research, product specifications, and clearly identified third-party guidance — not AI-generated content or recycled blog posts. Kristian's greenhouse is a working setup, not a stock photo. If a method is recommended, it reflects either firsthand greenhouse growing experience, clearly identified third-party guidance, or both.
Check your USDA zone using the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map — your local climate affects timing for all growing tasks. Where possible, GrowHaus flags when a tip is zone-sensitive so you can adjust accordingly.

A small bonus from Kristian

Outside of greenhouses, I also wrote a guide for folks who'd rather not pay a shop every time. Having trouble with oil changes? Check out my No-Mistake Oil Change Guide →
